Arnolds Park, IA (KICD)– Milford firefighters spent a large part of Thursday evening at the Dickinson County Landfill after a fire was reported late in the afternoon.

Crews were first called a little after five o’clock with landfill staff immediately being called back to start operating heavy equipment to slow the fire from spreading.

Video posted to social media shows several hot spots burning as the sun was going down but a lack of wind helped keep the blaze contained.

Milford Fire and Rescue says the actual cause of the fire is unknown but it is being considered accidental in nature.
