Spencer, IA (KICD) — The Spencer Radio Group would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to the hundreds of people in the community who played a part in getting our radio stations back on the air Saturday.

Due to the excessive flooding on the north side of Spencer, SRG’s transmitter building was in threat of flooding, which would not allow us to broadcast. By mid-morning Saturday, with the amount of water coming into the transmitter building, we could no longer safely broadcast. There were close to a hundred people in the community who arrived to assist sandbagging around the building to prevent more water from entering.

The following businesses, including Schoeneman’s Lumber, Christian’s Sheet Metal and Copper Cottage also provided valuable assistance providing necessary materials.

By early afternoon, all of our stations were back on air, allowing us to broadcast information to the public. If it had not been for these volunteers and businesses – it likely could’ve been several days before our radio stations would be back on air.

The Spencer Radio Group extends our thoughts and prayers to everyone who has been affected by this tragic flooding. You can count us to be on air keeping you informed in the coming days and weeks ahead.
