Full-time Broadcast Chief Engineer Job Description:
After 43 years with Spencer Media Group, our engineer is retiring. SMG is looking to hire our next Chief Engineer – serving 4 strong radio brands and a full digital platform for our advertisers.
Our group of stations serve Spencer and the Iowa Great Lakes region of Lake Okoboji and its chain of 5 lakes. Northwest Iowa is a beautiful place to live, work and raise a family.
A minimum 3 years broadcast hands-on engineering experience preferred. Knowledge of the inspection, repair, and maintenance all radio broadcast station equipment, including transmitters, antennas, satellite downlinks, automation system, studio equipment, remote equipment, generators, telephone systems and related other electronic equipment. IT & Network knowledge and experience a big plus.
You must be able to work well under pressure; multi-task and work well with others. Some nights and weekends will be required.
Other Duties for this position include (but not limited to):
– Setup and install new computers
– Change or add new hardware like switches, routers, etc. to the computer networks
– Installing software
– Troubleshooting both hardware and software issues
– Keep facility in good operating condition
– Log EAS (Emergency Alert Systems) tests
– Knowledge or a willingness to learn FCC Rules and Regulations
– Fill out tower inspection forms
– Light travel requirements
