Spencer, IA (KICD)– The past few months have seen a bit of a shake-up when it comes to which counties are in which mental health service region.
Clay County Supervisor Barry Anderson is the county’s representative for Northwest Iowa Care Connections. He says three additional counties have shown interest in moving into the region since Dickinson and O’Brien Counties announced their plans to depart at the end of the fiscal year.
Anderson says the only reason Winnebago and Worth Counties were able to show intent on joining NWICC is because Kossuth County did.
He says the additional partners will make the region more sustainable over time being that it is currently up the counties to fund the services.
At the end of the day Anderson says it doesn’t matter which region a particular county belongs to when it comes to mental health services, as long as those needing assistance are able to get the help they need.
