A new product tied in with the Iowa State University Athletic Program is pushing West O Beer to the next level. Owner Matt Matthiesen says stores are calling them instead of the other way around.

West O has already bought new equipment and considering a further expansion.

Matthiesen tells KICD the beer was formulated to have a mass appeal taste.

Three dollars per case of Ames Lager sold will be donated to the We Will Cooperative, which then helps Cyclone Athletes who perform community service work. There will be a release party Thursday at the West O taproom.
