Milford, IA (KICD)– Okoboji Classic Cars on the west side of Milford was about more than the vehicles Saturday night as the sixth annual Black Tie Black Leather Affair for the Shayla Bee Foundation took over the building.
One of the many highlights was learning a new record was set for attendance, with 560 people on hand. Organizer Jerry Faulkner tells KICD News the continued support is overwhelming.
Faulkner echoed what was said by the featured Shayla Bee Family during the annual program, that while there is financial support provided by the foundation, it is also about the relationships that have been built.
Making her first ever appearance at the event was Governor Kim Reynolds. She tells KICD News it is nothing short of amazing what this organization has been able to do for families with a child facing medical crisis.
Governor Reynolds adds it all comes down to a true motto of Iowans helping Iowans.
Since being founded sixteen years ago, the Shayla Bee Fund has been able to raise more than 600-thousand dollars just in the six years of the Black Tie Black Leather Affair, which has helped serve 230 families to date, with more likely to come this year.
