Rock Rapids, IA (KICD) — An Emmetsburg man gets sentenced on a theft conviction.

Ryan Van Gorp received a 5-year prison term, with credit for time served, along with a suspended 10-year prison term, as a result of being convicted of theft and possession of stolen property. Van Gorp tried to consign stolen equipment at a local auction. He received two felony charges in the case, and is to pay restitution of $31,450.

Van Gorp received the charges after authorities in Dickinson, Emmet, Lyon and O’Brien counties conducted investigations on multiple thefts.

 

Worthington, MN (KICD) — A Worthington man charged with sexually assaulting his granddaughter over several years has a court date set.

On Wednesday, Kenneth Meyerdirk made an appearance before Judge Terry Vagjrt and pleaded not guilty to one count of first-degree and three counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. He
received the charges over 2 years ago that accused him of the sexual assaults over many years.

According to the 2013 criminal complaint, all the alleged contact took place at Meyerdirk s farm on Sundberg Avenue. It was said by the victim that she remembered the first incidents occurring in 2000, when she was in second grade, and continued until she was approximately 11 years old.

On Wednesday, the defense waived the right to a speedy trial and a date for a three-day jury trial was tentatively set for May 18th – 20th.
