Spencer, IA (KICD)– An Eastern Iowa woman was arrested early last week following a disturbance in a moving vehicle.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office released information today saying 52-year-old Laura Schmoranz, of Dewar, was arrested in the early afternoon of July 7th after authorities were advised of a disturbance that involved a passenger telling her to pull over.

The vehicle was located and stopped in the 10 block of West 8th Street in Spencer where authorities learned both Schmoranz and her passenger, identified as James Bedore, had been consuming alcohol and became engaged in an argument.

An investigation also reportedly revealed open containers for which Bedore was cited and released.

Schmoranz was taken into custody and charged with operating while intoxicated, open container and child endangerment before being booked into the Clay County Jail.
