Spirit Lake, IA (KICD) — An Accident on Highway 71 and 41st Street in Spirit Lake on Friday claimed the life of an Okoboji man.
The Iowa State Patrol says at 10:25 A.M. 66-year-old James Golden was driving a Ford F-150 eastbound on 170th St/41st St while a Ford 350 driven by 31-year-old Michael Reason of Milford was southbound on Highway 71. Both vehicles entered the intersection on Highway 71 and 170th St/41st where Reason’s vehicle collided with the driver’s side of Golden’s truck. After the initial collision Golden’s truck also hit a pole in the Southeast ditch.
The report says both drivers were not wearing seatbelts. Golden was taken to the hospital where he was later declared deceased.
