Gilmore City man arrested and taken to hospital

Gilmore City, IA (KICD) — A Gilmore City man was arrested on Tuesday at 5:45pm following an altercation at a rural residence.

According to the Pocahontas County Sheriff, deputies were called to a residence north of Gilmore City for an ongoing family dispute involving threats to family members.

While investigating at the scene, 31-year-old Clayton Nielsen became resistant towards law enforcement and attempted to flee the scene.

Nielsen was quickly apprehended and arrested for Interference With Official Acts. Nielsen was transported to the Pocahontas Community Hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained while resisting arrest as well as self-inflicted injuries after being taken into custody.

Assisting at the scene were the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa State Patrol, the Pocahontas Police Department and Laurens Police Department.
