History of Clay County Fair Grandstand Wraps Up May Lecture Series

Spencer, IA (KICD)– Spencer’s Historic Preservation Commission has wrapped up its May Lecture Series with a presentation on the history of the Clay County Fair Grandstand.

This special journey down memory lane was presented by Dave Potratz who has been a part of the Grandstand for a large part of his life and has seen it change over the years.

Then flash forward to today and the stage that is used for each performance which all started as a drawing on a napkin by none other than Potratz.

The presentation on the history of Clay County Fair Grandstand and all of the other topics from 2023 May Lecture Series can be found on the City of Spencer Facebook page. Talks taking prior to this year are also available to be checked out at the Spencer Public Library.
