Fairmont, MN (KICD) — A Mountain Lake woman was killed in a four vehicle accident on Interstate 90.

The Minnesota State Patrol responded to the accident Tuesday night near Fairmont. Mark Wendland of Baltic, South Dakota was driving a 2006 Honda CR-V west on the east bound lanes of Interstate 90.

The Honda struck an eastbound 2011 Ford Escape, driven by Tyler Schoberg of Westbrook, Minnesota. Then, an eastbound 2013 Mack semi, driven by Jacob Oeltjenbruns of Granada, Minnesota came upon the accident scene and veered toward the shoulder.

An oncoming eastbound 2015 Kenworth semi, driven by Nathan Grela of Billings, Montana swerved to miss the two vehicles that collided and ran into the back of the Mack. Both semis wound up in the ditch.

A passenger in the Escape, 21-yr old Hannah Stoesz died from her injuries, while Schoberg was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester with unknown injuries. Wendland received non-life threatening injuries, while Grela and Oeltjenbruns were not injured in the accident.
