Milford, IA (KICD) The Superintendent of the Iowa Great Lakes Sanitary Sewer District has asked residents for years to disconnect their sump-pumps from the system. Now, Steve Anderson says, those illegal hookups are causing overloads.

Anderson tells KICD News his crews will be going door to door as soon as they’re done with emergency operations.

Dickinson County Emergency Management Director Mike Ehret is recommending you stay out of the lake.

At midday Sunday, Big Spirit Lake was 6 inches above the most recent flood; and East and West Lake Okoboji were 16 to 18 inches higher than it was in 2018.
