Emmetsburg, IA (KICD) — Iowa Lakes Community College and the city of Emmetsburg have banded together to create an outdoor workout facility next to the Arthur and Audrey Smith Wellness Center at the college campus.

Emmetsburg Dean Kyle Norris says they’ve already raised 100 thousand dollars for the project and need to find another 50 grand so construction can begin next year.

The project is getting 30 thousand dollars from the National Fitness Campaign for a copy-writed Fitness Court that features shock-resistant sports flooring and seven zones for a seven minute full-body workout. It can accomdoate 28 participants at the same time and will open 24 hours a day.

They’re hoping to start building next year as a class project. It would become the second Fitness Court in the state of Iowa.
