J.C. Penney closing 138 stores officially, 4 in Iowa


 

Spencer, IA (KICD) — The official number of J.C. Penney stores that will be closing is now known.

J.C. Penney will be closing 138 stores and one supply chain facility in Lakeland, Florida. They will also be relocating one supply chain facility in Buena Park, California.

J.C. Penney will be closing 4 stores in Iowa. Those locations include: Downtown Decorah, Crossroads Mall in Fort Dodge, Penn Central Mall in Oskaloosa and Quincy Place in Ottumwa. They will also be closing the Five Lakes Centre location in Fairmont, Minnesota.

Approximately 5,000 positions nationwide will be impacted by the store closures, most of which will occur in June. J.C. Penney is in the process of identifying relocation opportunities within the Company. Most stores that will be closing will begin the liquidation process on April 17th.
