Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputy Dies From Injuries Sustained in Crash

Rock Rapids, IA (KICD)— The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is in mourning after learning one of their own has died from injuries sustained in a single vehicle crash late last week.

Authorities say Deputy Stephanie Schreurs was northbound on County Road K-52 near Rock Rapids early Friday morning when her police cruiser left the roadway while entering a curve.

She was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital where she died from her injuries early Tuesday afternoon.

The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.

Deputy Schreurs had been with the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office for 24 years.
