Melvin Accident

Melvin, IA (KICD)–A Melvin woman was injured in a Wednesday afternoon accident.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office says 68-year-old Mary Steinmetz was heading south on 2nd Avenue in Melvin in a pickup shortly before 1:00. She failed to brake and instead pushed the gas pedal colliding with another pickup driven by 18-year-old Jacob Verdoorn of Sanborn, who was eastbound on North Street. Verdoorn’s pickup then spun around and slid into a legally parked truck.

Steinmetz was transported to the Hospital with possible injuries. She was issued a citation for Failure to Yield to Vehicle on Right.
