Dickinson County, IA (KICD) — A Spirit Lake man was pronounced deceased after an accident involving a tractor and a motorcycle in Dickinson County.

On June 1st around 11:16 P.M. the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to an accident.

According to the report 32-year-old Joshua Huff of Lake Park was traveling westbound on Highway 9 from Vick’s Corner in a tractor towing a large piece of farm equipment. Huff began to turn left into a private field entrance.

56-year-old Charles Paine of Spirit Lake was also westbound on Highway 9 behind the tractor on a motorcycle. Paine was attempting to overtake the tractor and collided with the towed equipment as it was turning into the private field entrance.

Paine was pronounced deceased at the scene.

No injuries were reported by Huff.

The Iowa DOT was contacted and the highway was detoured for the duration of the on-scene investigation.

The collision remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
