Lake Park, IA (KICD)– New information has been released in a Tuesday afternoon shooting investigation in Dickinson County.

The local Communications Center originally received a call from Lakes Regional Healthcare after a man had self-admitted himself to the Emergency Room with gunshot wounds.

The initial investigation determined the man, identified as 46-year-old Nakoma Wells of Spirit Lake had been shot in the arm and torso by 32-year-old Samuel Stoller of Okoboji at a home in the 1800 mile of 130th Street outside of Lake Park after Stoller had reportedly entered the home and confronted Wells and another occupant who was not harmed with a handgun.

Multiple law enforcement agencies were able to secure a perimeter and engaged in a standoff with Stoller until he later turned the gun on himself.

Stoller was originally taken to Lakes Regional Healthcare and then transferred to a Des Moines Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says the matter remains under investigation and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
