Rembrandt, IA (KICD) — The Buena Vista Country Emergency Management Department confirms the death of one person at a Rembrandt Foods facility on Friday.
A news release from Enmergency Management Director Aimee Barritt issued Sunday night says many agencies responded to a call that came in around 6 o’clock Friday morning.
Emergency Management; Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office; fire departments from Rembrandt and Sioux Rapids; and ambulance crews from Storm Lake and Sioux Rapids rushed to the scene to find a structural failure resulted in a “catastrophic collapse of equipment” in a barn.
An urban search crew from Sioux City was called to help.
Efforts ran from 6:30am to 6pm Friday and were called off due to dangerous conditions. They resumed at 7 Saturday morning and a body was recovered at 2pm.
