Palo Alto County Sheriff Lynn Schultes Announces Plans To Retire

Emmetsburg, IA (KICD)– There is going to be a new Sheriff in town later this summer the top cop in Palo Alto County puts away the badge for the last time.

Lynn Schultes has been serving as Sheriff since 2013 and has been a member of law enforcement for more than three decades.

Schultes announced via social media that he plans to retire later this summer now that the new Public Safety building is being worked on which has been his big project for the last several years. He told KICD News last week at the construction site that the new structure was not only needed based on age, but also safety for everyone inside.

Sheriff Schultes will retire at the end of August with the Board of Supervisors having the option to fill the vacancy either by appointment or special election.
