Emmetsburg, IA (KICD)– Check boxes are being marked off indicating a Palo Alto County wind energy project is getting closer to construction.

Patrick Brown is the Project Development Manager for Lost Island Wind. He tells KICD News engineering for the project is well underway which starts with finding feasible locations for the proposed wind towers.

Brown says there is also some work under consideration to determine exactly how many wind turbines will be a part of the project.

Just in the last week Lost Island Wind has also been given the okay from federal aviation officials to move forward with planning.

A group opposed to the project that calls themselves Protect our Aviation and Eagles announced on Tuesday that it will be filing an appeal against that FAA report.
