IA (KICD) — School Bond voting will be taking place today April 3rd.

Some of the big bond issues in the KICD listening area include the Okoboji Bond Issue, the Graettinger-Terril Bond Issue and the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Bond Issue.

At Graettinger-Terril, the proposed bond plan is $9.7 million dollars and includes a new industrial tech classroom and labs, new agriculture classrooms and labs and a new science classroom.

The plan will also expand security at the elementary & middle/high schools, create fully accessible ADA compliant facilities and add a competitive-sized gym with new locker rooms that will allow them to host district and regional events.

Tax Payers there are expected to see a $2.70 net increase per thousand of taxable property value.

In Okoboji, the proposed bond is $25 million dollars and includes resurfacing the high school football field, building a new stand alone middle school and make much needed repairs to the elementary and high schools.

The current middle school which is located in Arnolds Park, is not big enough to fill enrollment needs according to a demographic study where the school is expected to add 125 students over the next 5 years.

For Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn, the district is having an $18.9 million bond that would add an addition at the high school in Hartley, along with a renovation for the middle school in Sanborn.

The vote in Okoboji will be at the Milford Community Building;  in Graettinger-Terril people can vote at the Graettinger Public Library and the Terril Community Center; and in the H-M-S school district, voters may go to the Sanborn Community Building and Hartley Public Library.

All polls will be open from 7 A.M. until 8 P.M.
