Spencer, IA (KICD) — The Shayla Bee Family welcomed another member.
On Friday, Jeremiah and Miranda DePyper were introduced as the 112th family members. They were nominated, as they’ve been dealing with an illness that struck their 14-yr old daughter, Mackenzie. She was found to have a growth attached to her adrenal gland, which was determined to be ganglioneuroma.
The funds the family received will help to replenish what the different expenses that built up during Mackenzie’s medical endeavor, that included 19 days in different hospitals.
The Shayla Bee Fund, is named in honor of Board Director Jerry Faulkner’s granddaughter who passed away in 2005 due to a rare developmental disorder. The financial burden of caring for a child with critical medical needs can be great and the Shayla Bee Fund was created to help alleviate a portion of that burden on families.
