Spencer, IA (KICD) — A new telephone scam is making the rounds in Spencer according to police.

The Spencer Police Department posted on their Facebook page that scammers are making calls claiming to be from the Social Security Administration. The message tells the victim that they have received the call to inform them there is a legal enforcement action filed on your social security number for criminal activities. The call asks you to call another number before legal proceedings begin.

The Spencer Police Department would like to remind everyone not to give out their personal information over the phone.
