Okoboji, IA (KICD) — The City of Okoboji was hoping phase one of the Speier Park playground project could start this fall, but city administrator Michael Meyers it’s being delayed in hopes of getting a more favorable price from a willing contractor.

The council voted four to zero (with one absense) to reject the bid. At least one councilmember, though, said she doesn’t want the park torn up during the tourist season next summer.

As far as the present playground equipment that’s been auctioned off: Meyers says bidders can back out if the item is broken during removal, or if the new timeline doesn’t work for them.

The highest bid for an item was 4 thousand 50 dollars for a slide and bridge. An air-force jet themed teeter totter brought Twenty two hundred twenty-five dollars. And the top bidder for several items including an old jungle gym was a movie studio.
