Spencer Defense Struggles to Stop the Run in 34-7 Loss to 3A #4 Webster City

Spencer, Ia (KICD) – News Radio 102.5 and AM 1240 KICD had coverage of the Spencer Tigers as they took on #4 in 3A Webster City.

It was the Jaxon Cherry show for Webster City, as he scored 4 first half touchdowns, from 55 yards, 1 yard, 22 yards, and 48 yards respectively. Webster City took a 28-0 lead into halftime.

The Tigers came out of the locker room strong, getting a defensive stop and putting together a nice drive. After a penalty, it looked like the Tigers would punt, but Eli Hookfin tucked it and ran.

The Tigers would capitalize on the second chance, when Cael Bruning crossed the goal line for the Tigers first touchdown of the season.

The Tigers got another drive going across mid-field when Miles Robbins got some momentum.

The Tigers would end up turning over the football in Webster City territory, the Tigers 3rd turnover of the game. Webster City would turn it in to the 5th Jaxon Cherry Touchdown of the night.

That would bring us to our final score of 34-7 as Spencer drops to 0-2 on the year while Webster City improves to 1-0.

Jaxon Cherry ran for 322 yards and scored 5 touchdowns in the win for Webster City.

Miles Robbins led the way for Spencer with 37 yards on the ground. The Tigers combined for 157 rushing yards as a team between 8 players.
