Spencer, IA (KICD) — A Veterans Day program to honor those who have served their country was held at the Iowa National Guard Armory in Spencer Monday.

KICD news spoke with Keynote Speaker Chris Raveling, he says Veterans Day is important as it reminds people to take time to recognize those who have given their time and dedication to the country.

When asked what was the best way someone could give thanks to a veteran, Raveling said all it takes is a simple gesture.

Raveling says people should also take time to recognize the struggles and sacrifices made by veterans and active service members in both their personal lives and their work lives.
