Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)– A culvert replacement project in Northern Dickinson County is going to be taking place sooner than originally planned.

County Engineer Dan Eckert told the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday the Swan Lake culvert was scheduled to wait another year or two but current conditions have led to a request to take care of it next fiscal year.

Eckert added the aforementioned bump in the road is beginning to lead some safety issues as well.

At this point, no other planned projects will be impacted by this move. Eckert says he plans to have a tight schedule for the project to make sure it will be complete by harvest time because of the road’s heavy usage for farm equipment.
