Toft Sentenced

Sioux City, IA (KICD) — A Spencer native is sentenced to prison.

In Woodbury County District Court Thursday, 35-year old Nathan Toft, of Sioux City received a sentence of 10 years in prison for domestic abuse and setting fire to the victim’s house. Toft pled guilty to domestic abuse assault and 2nd degree arson, and had the charge of stalking dropped as part of a plea agreement.

Toft admitted to choking the female victim suring an argument, then lit a bag of charcoal on top of a wood pile next to her home on fire. The residence received damage to siding and insulation. Two adults and two children escaped without injury.

Toft’s prison sentence was detailed in the plea agreement.
