Two Arrested After Traffic Stop In Emmet County

Emmet County, IA (KICD) — Two people were arrested after a traffic stop in Emmet County.

On June 9th around 2 P.M. a Sheriff’s Deputy on patrol observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed about 3 miles north of Graettinger on Highway 4. The deputy initiated a traffic stop in the 2500 block of Highway 4 and upon an investigation at the scene a substance believed to be marijuana, drug paraphernalia and an open container of alcohol were discovered in the vehicle.

As a result of the investigation the adult passenger 21-year-old Destine Robinson of Windom, Minnesota was placed under arrest and charged with possession of a controlled substance – marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possessing an open container of alcohol on a public roadway. A 17-year-old male juvenile was also charged with possession of a controlled substance – marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Robinson was taken to the Emmet County Jail where she was booked and the Juvenile was referred to Juvenile Court Services and released to a parent.

The driver of the vehicle 20-year-old Kelvin Higgins of Burlington, Wisconsin was cited for speed and released.
