Spencer, IA (KICD)– We are less than 24 hours from polls opening for the Mid-Term General Election and perhaps one of the bigger races in the local area is that for Clay County Attorney.

Challenger Ashley Herrig and incumbent Travis Johnson joined local media for a standing room only public forum in late Septer to talk about some of the big issues surrounding their line of work including wether or not politics actually belongs in the particular position.

Herrig responded by saying political affiliations are almost required based on the current system is set up.

Johnson disagreed by noting appointment are possible and that politics really should not have a place in the County Attorney’s Office.

The entire forum for Clay County Attorney can be found on the “Podcast” page at kicdam.com. Polling locations can be found on the Iowa Secretary of State’s website.
