UPDATE Spencer House Fire

Spencer, IA (KICD) — A Spencer woman is charged in a Spencer house fire.

On Tuesday, Spencer Fire Department was responded to the fire at 612 3rd Avenue West, for a house on fire. Upon arrival, fire was seen coming from the south and east side of the house. Firefighters entered the house, encountering high heat and heavy smoke. There were no injuries, and crews were on scene for approximately 3 hours.

An investigation into the cause of the fire was intiated by Spencer Fire and Police Departments, along with an agent of the State Fire Marshalls Office and the Clay County Attorney’s Office. As a result, 18-year old Bianca Watkins, has been charged with Arson 2nd Degree, a class C felony for setting the fire, and 2 counts of Animal Abuse
