Spencer, IA (KICD)– Heart disease is known by many as a silent killer as symptoms can be experienced without warning signs, but Spencer Hospital has a program that can help detect higher risk cases.

Cara Rutter is a Planet Heart Educator at the hospital. She says the program has a number of different steps to get a good look at a patient that have been used for well over a decade.

So, who qualifies to take part in the Planet Heart program?

The Planet Heart program is broken down into the Heart Check which consists of the CT san and the Vascular Stroke Screening which each cost $75 or $125 for both which is significantly lower than the actual value, but neither piece is covered by insurance plans.
