Spencer, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The Hinton Blackhawks swept through the 2024-2025 season with a 26-0 record, a 9-0 War Eagle slate to win the league title, and most importantly, the 2025 Class 2A State Championship.
Hinton brings back their top 4 scorers and only graduated 1 starter from last season. Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn coach Ashley Tessum has them tagged as the favorite to take the League again. Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn went 13-9 a season ago, 5-4 in the War Eagle where they finished 5th. The Hawks graduated 4 of their 5 starters, including 2 more off of the bench. Tessum would like to see the Hawks compete toward the top two thirds of the War Eagle Conference.
Sibley-Ocheyedan did not put a varsity team on the floor in the 2024-2025 season but will be back for this winter. Ashton Reiter says the Generals are working toward putting together a competitive season.
South O’Brien was 3-20 last season and 1-8 in the War Eagle Conference, taking 9th. A strong Senior Class looks to lift South O’Brien higher up those standings this season. Coach DJ Hansen wants them to focus on the process of improvement over Wins and Losses.
Harris-Lake Park was the surprise of the 2024-2025 season, turning in a 19-5 overall record and tying for 2nd in the War Eagle Conference at 7-2. Expectations are high for the Wolves, and Coach Jared Rahe talked about building on the momentum.
