Spencer, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – Girls Tennis has been moved from the Spring to the fall by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. Spencer began practice at the beginning of the week and had their first competition on Thursday where they beat both Sergeant Bluff-Luton and Fort Dodge.
Head Coach Bob Schlaeger talked about how the Tigers approached their short break when Northwest Iowa Now was able to speak with the Spencer Girls Tennis team at Media Day Thursday morning.
Abby Ewalt is the top returner for the Tigers, and says preperation has been different with the short offseason, but she is excited to get back to it.
The numbers are up for Spencer, which is different from a lot of other girls Tennis programs that are battling with established fall sports such as Volleyball and Cross Country.
Abby Crew is another top returner who says Spencer is a tough team to beat because of how they extend points.
Schlaeger hopes to see some of that competitiveness from his team right away.
Senior Isabel Moore looks to create a good base to her game.
Coach Schlaeger told Northwest Iowa Now about some of the teams that will be the best competition for the Tigers in 2025.
Northwest Iowa Now will bring you coverage of Spencer Tiger Girls Tennis all season online and on social media.
