Storm Lake, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Buena Vista County conservation leaders are clearing final hurdles to take ownership of the Storm Lake Marina.

The long-awaited transfer of the Storm Lake Marina is entering its final stages. The Iowa Natural Resource Commission recently recommended that the state officially hand over the title for the 17-acre property to the county. BV Conservation Director Greg Johnson:

Everything takes time in situations like this, so even though the BV Conservation Board is now managing the Storm Lake Marina, there are still a few more steps before it’s officially theirs to use.

The history of that land started with the DNR but has passed hands since.

Johnson says future plans for the marina building are still being debated, but we asked Johnson to simplify what is hoped for the intended outcome:

The bait shop and boat slips will remain open for the upcoming spring and summer seasons.
