Spirit Lake, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Anglers who chose the EXTENDED Contest at this year’s Iowa Great Lakes Walleye Weekend gave themselves more opportunities to win a cash prize, albeit much less than catching a tagged walleye during the official weekend.

For Ken Williams of Cedar Rapids, that $15 extra at registration was a great investment.

Morgan Strauss with the Iowa Great Lakes Chamber says over 2,000 participants signed up for the tournament and extended summer contest. The Iowa DNR released 10 tagged walleyes for the 44th annual tournament, but no one was able to catch a tagged fish, missing out on the $44,000 grand prize.
