Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The city of Spencer has received a new housing study. Researcher Keith Carl counted 750 vacant units, with only 163 habitable.

But the study acknowledges sometimes it’s not feasible to rehab 100 year old homes, especially the ones that were damaged by the flood

 

 

Carl says the population of Spencer has only dropped by about 100 since the flood – not the great out-migration that many expected.
