Another Fire at Kent Feeds Plant in Sheldon

Sheldon, IA (northwestiowanow.com) — There was another explosion at the Kent Feed plant in Sheldon Thursday – the second in ten days.

The Sheldon Fire Department was dispatched to 1500 RTM Avenue shortly after midnight. At first nothing wsa found, but around an hour later smoke was found in the building and traced to a fire in one of the grain cooling units. The Sanborn Fire Department was dispatched around 1 o’clock and the two crews made an attack with water. Employees at the plant began to move the contents of the cooler outside where it was doused.

There were no injuries. Sheldon Police, The O’Brien and Sioux County Sheriff’s Departments, Sheldon Community Ambulance, and O’Brien county Emergency Management assisted at the scene.
