SPENCER, IA (Northwestiowanow) — B&B Truck and Trailer Repair has been awarded a loan from the Spencer Retail Kickstarter Committee.

Ben and Beth Ter Horst recently acquired the Kardell Trucking operation, a move local officials say is a positive step for Spencer’s economy and service sector.

During a Clay County Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, June 23rd, Spencer Chamber President Sheriffa Jones said the ownership change has been well received.

The project is being supported through the Retail Kickstarter Program.

Launched in 2018, the program focuses on business recruitment and retention, economic growth, and increasing local sales tax revenue.

Since its creation, the Retail Kickstarter Program has assisted 15 businesses in Spencer.
