Be Storm Lake Mayor for a Day with Essay Contest

Storm Lake, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — The mayor of Storm Lake is asking Storm Lake students to show some hometown pride. Mayor Meg McKeon has officially launched the “Why I’m Storm Lake Proud” essay contest for students grades 9 through 12 at Storm Lake and Storm Lake St. Mary’s High Schools.

The Mayor for a Day contest asks students to write why they are proud of Storm Lake, maximum 500 words, and deadline is May 22. Email the essay to communications@stormlake.org or drop it off at the city hall.

One winner will be named Mayor for a Day and will get a prime spot in the Star-Spangled Spectacular Parade on July 4th, riding right alongside Mayor McKeon.
