Spirit Lake, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — It’s a big fund-raising weekend for Dickinson County fire departments. The annual Spirit Lake Fireman’s dance this year will be held at the Okoboji Barn Bar and Grill Friday night from 7 until 9. Damon Dotson will be the entertainment. In recent years the fire department switched from selling tickets, to taking a free-will donation at the door. You’ll recall the Spirit Lake fire district recently expanded when it merged with the Superior Fire Department. Profits will go toward updating equipment.

The Milford Fire Department holds its annual pancake and sausage breakfast Sunday at the fire barn. Serving is 8 until Noon with the assistance of the Milford Boy Scouts. Free will donations there will also be put toward keeping emergency equipment up-to-date.

And the Arnolds Park / Okoboji Fire and Rescue department holds it’s 39th annual Labor Day auction Monday at 1 o’clock at the Barefoot Bar at Parks Marina. There are some big items including a new All-Terrain-Vehicle. Money raised this year will be earmarked specifically for replacing the 21-year-old fire boat.
