O’Brien County (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Ever tried a bison burger? You can sink your teeth into one this Tuesday while also supporting local conservation.
The Little Sioux Valley Conservation Association is holding its annual Bison Burger Picnic, a fundraiser event happening Tuesday, August 12th. It’s a partnership with the O’Brien County Conservation Board, and all the money raised through free-will donations will directly support the conservation association’s work to protect and enhance the region’s natural resources. The event runs from 3:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Prairie Heritage Center west of Peterson, located on Yellow Avenue.
In addition to the fundraising, there’s plenty to do. You can take a prairie hike, enjoy live music by Larry Heschke, or even go for a horse wagon or golf cart ride. The food will be served from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m., with bison burgers, chips, baked beans, watermelon, and water all available.
This annual fundraising event is Tuesday night at the Prairie Heritage Center west of Peterson.
The Prairie Heritage Center was built in 2006 to provide environmental education about the prairie, and it continues to serve that mission today.
