Spencer, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com)  — Teachers and staff in Spencer are seeing a bump in their paychecks next year.

The Spencer School Board has officially signed off on new raises for the 2026-2027 school year. Teachers will see a 2.2% salary increase, while most hourly support staff will get a 40 cent raise. Food Service workers will see an extra 50 cents an hour.

Superintendent Terry Hemann says the total district spending is set at just over $43 million, with a property tax rate of $12.53 per thousand dollars of value. He says the school board’s goal is simple: keep the school district competitive and show staff their work is valued, when resources are lean.
