Northwestiowanow.com) — The Clay County Supervisors passed a resolution this week recognizing the staff at the Clay County Jail for Correctional Officers and Employees Week.

The week of April 19th was Dispatcher’s Week, and the team at the Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office were awarded as the 911 Telo-communicators of the Year in Iowa by their association.

The Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Department posted this on their Facebook page.

“This well-deserved recognition was awarded to our incredible dispatchers—Sheila Cougill, Jean Assman, Amy Koth, and Glenda Francis—for their exceptional performance during the 19-hour standoff in January of 2025. During this critical incident, they provided calm, professional, and unwavering support to responding officers while continuing to handle the full demands of daily emergency calls for service across Buena Vista County.”
