Car vs Scooter Collision Injures Spirit Lake Man

Spirit Lake, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — A Spirit Lake man sustained serious, incapacitating injuries Sunday afternoon when his electric scooter collided with a car.

The accident report says 48-year-old Shane Nelson was Northbound on Highway 71 around 3pm and had a green light at the intersection with 23rd street. 67-year-old Donna Gembler of Spirit Lake was Southbound in a Nissan Rogue and turned left into Nelson’s path. He was unable to avoid colliding with the vehicle’s rear right panel.

Nelson was transported by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare.
