Cherokee, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The Cherokee School Board has hired a new Superintendent. Just a month after Tom Ryherd resigned to take the Superintendent’s job in Perry, the district has hired Indianola High School Principal Jeff Siebersma to take the helm.

Art Sathoff with Grundmeyer Leader Search tells KICD News there was a strong pool of 14 applicants. Three finalists were interviewed on the same day with the job offered to Siebersma and accepted the same day.

School Board President Jodi Thomas says Siebersma’s experience and vision align with the priorities outlined by the district in a community survey, and promises “thoughtful, collaborative, leadership.”

Ryherd’s last official day in the job is June 30th, Sibersma’s first official day is July 1st.
