Storm Lake, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The city of Storm Lake has hired a new fire chief. Terence Sinner will take over the department as soon as he can relocate to town. Former chief Glenn Schlesser left the post earlier this year saying he wanted to move closer to family in Indiana.

City Manager Keri Navratil says Sinner started his career in the Air Force as a Firefighter and Fire Inspector serving tours in both Romania and Iraq. He then served the department of defense for twenty years reaching the position of Battalion Chief. After retiring from his federal job Sinner served as Fire Inspector for the city of Casa Grande, Arizona, and Division Chief of Fire Prevention and Fire Marshal for Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

There were more than 15 applicants for the position. Spencer Fire Chief Jesse Coulsen assisted the city of Storm Lake by being on their interview committee.
