Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The Clay County Heritage Center’s exhibit on the founding of the county is ready to open next week. Acting Director Susan Christiansen says they had hoped to be ready to coincide with the country’s 250th celebration but took their time to make a better display.
Christiansen says even the story of the Spirit Lake Massacre started in Clay County.
Christiansen says preserving the accurate stories are important with the advent of the internet, where anyone can post anything.
Clay County Heritage Center’s 175th Anniversary Exhibition opens next week and will be on display for one year.
